Summer Reading for Grown-Ups

Why should kids have all the fun?
As I've been compiling stories for my In the News page, I've seen about a bazillion articles about summer reading programs that will soon be starting at libraries across the country. The green monster hit hard: Why should kids be the only ones who get to have the fun of logging their reads and getting rewarded for them? There's no reason why adults can't participate, and so I bring you a grown-up version: Summer Reading Bingo.
Want to participate? Left click on the image of the bingo card to save the template to your computer. Print it out and fill in the squares with whatever theme you choose - there are some ideas below. Then, come up with some rewards for each bingo you achieve - a pina colada, an hour with your book, a trip to the pool, some hammock time, a new bookmark - whatever you decide to put in your reward treasure chest.
a book in a foreign language
a book you loved when you were a kid
a book by an indie author
a book by an author who is from a different racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic background than you
a book by an author with a disability
a classic you never read
something popular you think you won't like
an old favorite
a book that will teach you something
a book outside your comfort zone
a book by an author who has your initials
a book by an author who shares your birthday
a book about a character who shares your name
the book that's been in your TBR pile the longest
a book you'd never want people to know you read
a book from a little free library
a banned book
a book you bought on vacation
a book that takes place in your state (or your town/county if you can find one)
a book in a different format than you normally read (print for ebook readers; audiobook for print lovers; ebook for audiobook folks)
